CURRICULUM VITAE

Giorgio Pini became in 2001, and currently is, Professor of Numerical Methods in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Padova. Since 1990 he is member of the Scientific Committee for the PhD in Computational Mathematics. In 2002 he became Director of the Department of Mathematical Models in Applied Sciences. Giorgio Pini is author or co-author of about 90 scientific papers in international refereed journals, books and conference proceedings. He has been scientific coordinator of a number of research projects funded by CNR and by MURST. He has worked on the development of large scale 2D and 3D Finite Element models, on the solution of problems of flow through porous media, saltwater intrusion in coastal acquifers and subsurface contaminant transport. Giorgio Pini has also developed efficient numerical methods for the solution of large scale linear problems (linear systems and eigenvalue problems) arising from the discretization of the partial differential equations described above.
